Preserving Glow while Merging Text
on Dec 2, 2009 at 7:30:25 pm

I am working on a piece (in PS7.0) that has several text layers, each with an outer glow and stroke effect that differs from layer to layer. I need to be able to merge all of these text layers onto one layer while preserving the transparency around the text (i.e. not merge it to a solid background layer) but when I try, the color loses all of it's vibrancy, the stroke effects from each layer become faded and the glow becomes nearly monochromatic, opaque and blotchy-looking.

I've tried rasterizing each layer before merging, I've tried creating new blank layers and merging each text layer down one by one, and I've tried playing with blending methods to see if the original blending options would be preserved. Is there any way to work around this?

Try using Smart Objects to merge them together.. then apply glow
