merge two text overlay layers without losing effect?
on Sep 11, 2009 at 9:08:36 pm

I'm using PS CS4 and I have two text layers on top of each other (they same the same thing) and the layer style for both is set for "overlay". I want to merge (and rasterize) the two layers but keep the look of the doubled up overlay effect.

Can this be done??

Thanks...

I use a work-around method to accomplish this. I know that merging layers makes effects go all wonky so I figured out this method...

I make a new empty layer, then make all other layers, except for the empty layer and the layer you wish to be rasterized invisible. Then I do "merge all visible". Then repeat. You lose the ability to change the effects, but it might work for what you are trying to do.

Good Day

Make a new layer first and hold down Option or Alt when merging to merge a copy to the selected layer
