photoshop text size vs html pt size
on Mar 30, 2009 at 2:22:06 pm

This may be a dumb question...

In photoshop, my text palette says my point size is 2.5. It "appears" to be more like 11 point in the web world. Why doesnt my photoshop text measurement equate to the same number as html?

Do i have something clicked or selected that is keeping my photoshop file from using accurate real-time point sizes? does it have to do with my overall file size? I have a 1200 pixel wide web page im designing.

Can any shed some like on this?

thanks
jeff

The point size (pt) in html is very browser relative and I don't advise using it. I advise using pixels or px. I have noticed, from my experience and the versions of software that I use (Windows XP and CS3) that the px in html is very close to the same size as pt in Photoshop if the font is the same and the height and width of the font in Photoshop is 100%.

Using pixels in HTML allows you to much more precisely set the size of your fonts across multiple browsers.
