making a hi res image

I need to make an image 29' X 48" in hi res,
Customer is suppplying files, Do I not need a hi res images..at least 300 dpi and at least 29x48 or larger to make this high quality?? please advise!!

300 ppi would be ideal but it really depends on what you are using it for. We do a of big sign, wall size sometimes for shows, and we let our standards down for that to even like 100 ppi. (Up on a wall, it looks fine)
