Photoshop: How to open unknown image type with no extension?

Hello

Does anybody know it there is a way that Photoshop can open image files without extension and determine what kind of image file it is?

I know that an early version of ACDSee could do this but the current version refuses to open image files if the correct extension isn't there.

I sometimes get a lot of different images from from Mac users and it would be a lot easier if I didnt need to try extensions like PSD, EPS, JPG etc on every file.

Any help or hint is much appriciated

Regards
Hans

Bloody macheads eh!...all they have to do is set their prefs to include file extensions..nehmind.

Easiest way is to rename the file as .doc or .txt and open in notepad - I think at the top of the code it generates (or it might be at the very bottom?..) it will tell you which app created the file and it's type.

Then just rename as correct file type and bob's your sister's brother.
