HELP! ImageReady: Saving Selected Slices as HTML probs
on Jun 16, 2006 at 2:31:48 pm

ImageReady CS2, GoLive CS, Win, new install having in the past used the IR that came with PS7.

In the PS7 version of IR, when I select certain slices and 'Save Optimized As...' and choose 'HTML and Images' and 'Selected Slices', the resulting HTML file only has the slices that I... well, selected.

In IR CS2, choosing the same options and importing into GoLive CS, the resulting HTML file still only has the optimized image files that I selected, but all the other slices that I DIDN'T select are represented by placeholders in the HTML file. The problem is, I often copy all of this then paste it into a table... and with all these other (unwanted) slices, I can no longer do this as it pastes the empty bits too...

Basically, I only want an HTML file with my SELECTED slices, IGNORE all of the other slices when saving optimized.

Here is a short progression of what I'm trying to do...

1) Here's a screenshot of my sliced image in ImageReady CS2. Note that I have only slices 20 - 26 selected. I then go to File-> Save Optimized as

2) And a screenshot of the ImageReady CS2 'Save Optimized As...' dialog box. Note that I'm choosing HTML and Images, and 'Selected Slices'.

3) Now, here's where things get wacky... In the past using Imageready that came with PS v.7, I'd expect (and get) this HTML file...

... but using ImageReady CS2 I get this...

You can see that all of the slices that I hadn't selected aren't 'there' (that is, not visible) but the saved HTML has the blank PLACING of the images in the... umm... would you call it a table?

Now this is very difficult for me to overcome, because what I do now in my workflow (or have in the past w/ IR v7) is to select all, then go to my index page, put my cursor in the middle of a table space, then paste. The header (navigation bar) is a component, as is the footer, each in their own table spaces. But with all the 'blank' stuff coming out of IR CS2, I can no longer do this: I get great huge white spaces above and below. Can't figure out a workaround!

Ideally, I'd like IR to export HTML as before. Otherwise if anybody has any suggestions, do share, I'm on a really tight timeline here!

Don't have PS7 here, by the way, so can't install that.

TIA,

-g
