Get "Out of Ram" message with 4.5 gigs ram
on Apr 6, 2006 at 1:55:17 pm

I KNOW i am using an old versions of PS-6-with a G5 even, but that config has worked fine for my needs as i mostly do video editing on the machine. However, after uploaded big cr2 files, then converted to tif then copied and tried to paste into PS, i get the message like: "cannot open clipboard because of not enough memory" (ram). I added 2 gigs ram after i started getting this message.

I'm told 6.0 files are limited to 299mb, but my tif files from 16.2mgs are 47mb generally.

I want to build big files for large poster pictures but have a policy of not spending a dime on upgrades until i absolutely have to. Anybody have any suggestions? Many thanks...benjy

-G5 dual, 2gig, 4.5 gig ram., OS 10.3.2, PS 6

1. Use Place not Paste
2 You are 3 versions behind on PS and not ecen runnig a version that works natively with your OS. Spend the 179 bucks and upgrade already
3. PS has a 2GB RAM cap under your OS

Thanks Richard,

But when I try to use Place, no files show up, not even jpegs...that's new...even with points 2&3 i still don't know why i should have to upgrade, considering my usage.

Cheers, benjy
