photoshop "save for web" color problem
on Oct 11, 2005 at 12:03:06 am

Hey all, I've had this problem a few times and never been able to figure out a cause or a solution. When I "save for web" certain colors will not come out correctly. Here is an illustration of the problem: http://www.justinporter.net/ColorProblem.jpg . I am using the standard .gif32 image setting for export. The really strange thing is, the 2-up window in the save window that you're seeing in this image is the "original", not the export image. Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem is? Thanks.

yes, I understand that relationship, but that is not the cause for a few reasons, first: in the image you're seeing above, the preview is not a .gif32 preview, it's an "original image" preview in the save for web dialog box, second: I am using an adaptive pallette for the gif on an image that only has 3 or so colors, not a restrictive pallette. Also, I have tried setting the output setting to PNG24 to test it and I have the exact same problem.

Regardless, Thanks for the help, any other ideas?

I'm guessing that you have color managment on then which is getting in the way.. turn color management off and compare the two images
