Converting from RGB to CMYK

When I convert from RGB to CMYK my colors are getting duller, less saturated.
What can I do so that my colors remain the same?
When I color pick one of the colors in RGB and look at the value in CMYK sliders I get the little exclamation point in the corner.
Is this impossible for certain colors?

YUP

Work with colors that are in both color spaces....

When I color pick one of the colors in RGB and look at the value in CMYK sliders I get the little exclamation point in the corner.

Means that color won't work

Is this impossible for certain colors?

Yep.. additive versus subtractive color space.... suggest doing some in-depth reading if you are working in professional output.

Bust out the levels for the cmyk.

I work in rgb for video, and cmyk for our press work. If you want a frame of RGB to match CMYK as close as possible you have to manipulate the color levels in CMYK by hand. It comes down to best visual match, instead of color by number.

good luck.
