How does one import a LAYERED PSD document into an existing PSD?

So that all the layers come with it, still separate?

one way would be to have all your layers in a set and duplicate the layer set into the desired document.

Sweet! Good idea! Thanks.

Are there any other methods? I like to have more than one bullet in the clip....

That's the only way I know of, to keep it layered.

CS2 will let you place a layered Photoshop file into another one, and it'll be linked - but that's not really the same thing.

You could try dragging the layers from one document to the other.

Make sure the layers are all linked, click in the middle of the canvas and drag over to the other document. They won't be placed in exactly the same place, though. If your canvas' are the same size, create a new layer (in the document you're transferring) and fill it. Now use this layer as a guide for placement in the new document.

Hold the shift key while you drag the layer/set and it will place it in the same place in the destination document. If I remember correctly, if the destination is another size, the new layer(s) will be centered.

CS2 is sweet in that you can have layered PSDs INSIDE layered PSDs - nested/instances of psds. So, if for instance you have created an interface object like screws or something on a website design - you can create one - turn it into a smart object and then duplicate it as needed. If you decide to change the screw - open one and change it - all the rest will update.

This is awesome - much improved workflow and just one reason CS2 might be worth upgrading for you.

I also talk about this in the free vid-tutorials on xeler8r.com

It's easy to get excited about it.
