Red Epic 5K down convert for premiere pro cs6
on May 7, 2013 at 9:51:20 pm

Hello,

I just got delivered some footage from the camera men that shot an interview with the Red Epic, problem is that it was shot in 5K. I have a macpro tower and editing on Premiere Pro CS6. I just downloaded redCineX and I'm trying to figure out how to downgrade the quality to regualr HD. How can I export this to Proress or any other format that can work on my machine without stutters. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do one of a few things. First make sure your RED Importer plugin is up to date in Premiere http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/redepic_importer/

Next read the Redcine-X manual - it is included with the Redcine-X install.

You can either edit directly in 5K in Premiere if you turn the quality of the program monitor down to 1/8 or 1/16 or you can, as you plan, convert the footage and edit "offline" in something like 1080HD.

The latter will be easier and the Redcine-X manual will teach you the export process.
