Record Frame Rate vs. Frame Rate
on Feb 19, 2013 at 5:00:50 am

Hey everyone,

I'm dealing with some RED footage that was shot with:

Frame Rate: 23.976
Record Frame Rate: 29.97

This metadata was accessed by right-clicking on the file. Basically, my company needs this footage to conform to 29.97, so it can fit in our workflow. Is there anyway RedCine-X Professional can conform the footage to the *record* frame rate? Or is it just locked in at 23.976?

Any exports, and sending of said footage to Premiere and After Effects shows that the clip is 23.976. I'm getting the feeling that the *record* frame rate affects to look (more specifically motion), but ultimately, the file will always live at the frame rate, which is 23.976.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong!

This article will help you understand the problems.

You are going to have to do a pulldown to that footage.
