Corrupt files from Red One w/MX
on Jan 2, 2013 at 4:14:57 pm

Out of a 17 day shoot I ended up with 6 files that I can not transcode either in Avid or RedCine X Pro 16. All 6 files play when loaded in the RedCine monitor and when linked in the Avid. Avid comes up with an error message when transcoding, RedCine starts spitting out decode errors for frames when exporting. Any hope for the 6 files?

Maybe transcode those six files through REDCINE X and import them into the AVID?

try to isolate whether it is the AVID or the R3D media that is the problem.

Avid just won't transcode them, Redcine will but starts spitting out decode errors and black frames where the errors are. In Redcine after export 2 clips give me some picture followed by black till the end, 4 clips are all black. But Redcine, and redplayer play the R3D files, and avid will link and play the full files.

Are you using a Red Rocket card? I've had situations arise where I've had a decode error on me. If, in Redcine-X, I switched the rocket off and purely used software rendering I could get the "corrupted" clip to convert.
