50FPS for 24p file!
on Aug 14, 2012 at 6:56:46 pm

Hello,

I had many files shot on Epic as 50fps slow motion but the file is 24p.

as all the project is 24p.
Discontinuous time code happen when render to 24p on the Baselight "i insert the 50fps file on 24p scene as the Baselight consider the file as 24p".

my qu is ..
is the Camera man is right to choose 50fps as slow motion for 24p file?
am assuming he should use 48fps?or it should work 50fps for 24p file?

any ideas?

Thanks
_A

Ayman,

The file and the DP are behaving correctly.

Read this article I wrote explaining how slo motion works with RED footage.

It's like film, not like interpolated video based systems like the 7D.

Thanks David,

It is uselfull article..

Ahh,Finally caught where is the problem!
That the DP make the sensor frame rate 50fps and forgot to change the file frame rate from previous job 50fps.

I checked this at file metadata on the redcinex.
so that the baselight considered it 50fps not 24 as the scene settings.

Thanks

So the FRAMERATE is 50 frames persecond?
and the TIMEBASE is 24 frames per second?

Correct?

David
