Hello, this is my first time handling Red footage in heavy post process,
After research I am still looking for a better workflow for this specific project. We shot with RED and the footage already looks pretty close to what we want (1700K) what I have to do is to stitch and overlay several footage for VFX. There is not much for offline editing, it's more of a complicated compositing situation for me.
In this case, I am wondering if it's the best idea to follow the regular procedure : REDCINE-X(ProRes4444) - FCP offline (XML) - back to REDCINE - AE
I would love to preserve as much R3D info for someone else to grad it later, but with the time-remapping, overlaying clean plate and laying up several clips,I will have to test in compositing to decide which extra footage to use, and it sounds silly to go back and forth several times. Should I just directly composite with R3D files in AE ? or composit with ProRes and then replace with R3D files directly in AE ? If anyone has experienced similar situation your suggestion would be much appreciated.
