Red Epic Training

We are about to take delivery of our Epic-M, and I'd like to see if there is any camera specific training on it. More on the technical side than anything else. I'm the camera tech for our company, and this will be quite a bump up from our usual Panasonic workflow.

I've looked on the interwebs, and didn't find much. My dealer referred me to a local camera guy that has been shooting on Red One's for a while. Guess I was looking more for a factory authorized training program, but on Red's site all I found were workshops that sound more like film camps than tech training. Plus they aren't until august!

Any ideas out there?

Thanks!

Matt

It might be best to get an experienced user in your area to come in and pay them for an overview from aquisition to finish.

Jay A. Kelly also produced a series of RED ONE 101 DVD's that might be helpful but a bit outdated.

This ain't like P2 at all. It's a different beast. More like a traditional 35mm film workflow.

I have contacted a local DP that has been shooting reds for a long time and has 2 EPICS. He has agreed to do some training with him! That is the Holy Grail of getting to know the camera and the workflow. Its great to work in a city that has great talent that are willing to share their knowledge.

I would still like to find an EPIC FOR DUMMIES book or something similar.

Thanks all!

Matt,

The manual offers a lot of great operational input as well.

I'm glad you went this route. It's a smart way of doing business.
