Shooting 4:3 4k, transoding to 2k.. what would be the correct dimensions?

We're shooting with an AR of 4:3 tomorrow, 4.5k raw.

I'm going to take care of the transcoding through redcinex but am curious, what resolution should I choose for 2k?

Does it matter what the aspect ratio is? 4:3, 16:9, etc?

There's quite a few 2k resolutions, but no "2048x1556".. which I thought was the normal "2k"..

would 2048x1024 work ? I'm just wanting to make sure that there isn't any sort of issue with post once they receive the prores files.

Thanks guys!!

4:3 is basically full aperture for 35MM. I would transcode with a matte that represents the shooting aspect ratio your DP is framing for and have hims shoot a framing chart (ie 1:85, 16:9 2:35, 2:40)with in a 16:9 frame as I assume you will be editing an viewing dailies on HD monitors.
