Relinking transcoded quicktime files to red cine exported mov files

I just got a job to re edit, but I'm not sure how it was all transcoded.

What I'm trying to do is export prores 422 files from the original R3D files using Red Cine X so I can grade better.

When I try to reconnect in FCP, I'm unable to do so even thought the files have the same names.

Is there any reason for this? What am I missing?

Thanks,

Andrew

Did you use a XML from FCP?

Without further information about your workflow and the files you received, it will be difficult to help you.

Thanks for getting back to me, Uli.

Here's a look at the format of the files I got from the previous editor:

He also exported with the time code printed onto the frames. It looks like:

My thinking was was to export a flatter prores out of Redcine and reconnect in final cut. But I can't do this, even though the files have the same name... Is there a setting in Final Cut that I can adjust?

Oh yeah, I tried exporting XML from FCP, but I couldn't figure out how to get it working in Red Cine X...

Can you give me a workflow for this part? I think I have one of the Video tracks into Red Cine now, but I don't know how to get V2, V3, etc in. I've got a lot of layers in this project...

Umm, I never use complex timelines in such a workflow. I'm afraid you'll need to flatten your timeline or move it all to Premiere or get Storm. Give it a try, there's a time-limited demo.
