Timeline Bug When Transferring RED Proxy to Color
on Dec 3, 2010 at 11:12:57 pm

I just recently finished my first short with the RED and loved it. Having some run-ins in post though.

I'm working with MacBook Pro i5, 4GB RAM off a G-Tech FW800 drive and Final Cut Studio 3.

After cutting the film using proxy's I send it over to color and the data transfers over fine, but certain clips are not what they should be. It is the right file but wrong part of the timeline. I checked back to my edit in FCP and all is well, it's just when I go over to Color it messes up. I rendered out a scene where this problem occurred just to see if it was an issue with color that would resolve itself upon exporting back to FCP, but no such luck.

This is the first time I've edited with R3D footage, so pardon my being a novice. Any suggestions?

Well, there's a reason why Apple is not suggesting to work with proxies…

You probably ran into the infamous color bug with spanned clips (over 2 GB). Get Clipfinder and use it's Colorfixer function.
