Red Camera Green Screen Workflow

I'm preparing to do on-site keying for a green screen shoot with the RED. I'm new to the RED but am familiar with the 4k file outputs. I'm looking for the best possible workflow to ensure quick results on set. The keying done on set will not be the final and is merely for reference purposes only. What suggestions do you have to best tackle this problem?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

You have a few options.

You can easily pull keys in the following programs:

FCP
AE
Premiere Pro

On set, just by importing the R3D media or the QT proxy files in to any of these apps. Then you can load it into a COMP like any other footage and apply the keys.

If you use AE and the right software, you can pull some pretty fast and clean keys. With Premiere or FCP you can eaily check the lighting by looking at the waveform (the hots spots look very obvious).

That is a start. if you don't have any of those tools software then I'd advise getting one of them.

David

Try Boinx TV. I used it on green screen set, for live preview and compositing.
