Blurry Red footage

I just got my first Red footage in for editing. Most of the clips look very soft. The crew shot in native 2k, which as I understand it, only uses half of the sensor.

The camera had a teleprompter in front of it.

My work flow in FCP7 is to load the footage through Log & Transfer in Native mode so I have access to the raw file files for color grading in color. The link is a still pulled from Quicktime-wrapped Red file.

Any insight on what's going on here?

Well, 2K is soft from RED One, since that's only around 1.6 K true resolution from a Bayer-pattern sensor. One should never shoot 2K other than for slo-mo.

But OTOH, RED is not applying any in-camera sharpening like most video camcorders do. So just use Unsharp Mask or a similar filter as a final touch.
