Mixing Red footage with EX3 footage

Hey Hey,

So I have a project coming up that involves mixing red one 4k footage, with ex3 footage. We have not shot yet, but would like some recommendations as to how we should go about making the best compatible footage for the edit.

Thanks for any help you can provide

First question in such cases is: what is your final delivery?

Would be a shame not to make a 1080 master for possible Blu-ray use.

So, since it's a feature, I'd shoot in 25p or 23.98, depending on your region of the planet.
Use the R1 in quad HD and the Sony in 1080. Make sure to keep shutter speed for both on 1/48th or 1/50th of a second. Use very controlled camera movements.

Since the Sony is much more restricted in grading, try to get very familiar with it's picture style presets and make the best look in camera for every set. Turn sharpening down to a reasonable level.

The R1 can be easily matched to the Sony in grading.

Hope this helps.

Great! I have a good idea of how and what to shoot to mix the two cameras in the best possible way. Thank you all for the advice.
