I apologize in advance for asking about a non RED product on the RED forum - BUT, I know I can get Noah's attention here.

I did a google search on Calibrated Q, and found your name on a little blog/blurb you did on Calibrated Q. I just saw it in action (a little) for the first time yesterday, and I was mezmerized. You have your raw P2 files, and you don't have to do a log and transfer or File>Import - just drag over your P2 MXF files, and go to work, like they were native files. Is it really that easy? Why isn't everyone doing this ?

Bob-

Probably because it's not a free plugin and some folks don't really get the difference or care about working native in MXF. But yeah that's pretty much all there is to it as far as easier workflow. :)

Also works with AVC-I now.

Also, if you have customers with multi-cam MXF/P2 check this:

we tried it today for the first time. Oh my God - this is the #1 plug in I ever tried. You transfer your P2 footage to your drive, and it just plays. No log and transfer. This is what RED needs - no Red Rushes, no Rocket Cine-X. It just works. Let's face it - no one wants to learn anything, no one wants to have to deal with any menus. They just want to put their drive on (or transfer their files from the portable drive to the big editing drive) and go to work - this is EXACTLY what Calibrated {Q} does for P2 (and SxS) files. If only .R3D could work this way !

I hear that!

doesn't the latest version of Adobe premiere support .r3d native editing?

Yup- been that way since last year. It's pretty much drag and drop R3D in Premiere- which is great. But then again if you're used to FCP....
