Original Timecode lost in FCP Transcode
on Jan 20, 2010 at 11:27:02 pm

Hello, I've been using Avid primarily for all of my RED camera work, but now need to switch to Final Cut for 3k resolution. I have successfully logged and transferred all of my footage, but realized that the timecode on all of the clips start at 01:00:00:00. In Avid, I've been using either MetaFuse or MetaCheater which preserves the meta data on the clips. Is there any equivalent that I need for FCP? Am I missing a plug-in? Thanks!

Are you looking in the right place? Remember RED clips have rec run and free run timecode in their metadata. Make sure you are looking at the right column in FCP. Also yeah- Clipfinder is a good way to manage RED footage.

I believe I am. I also did a test export of an EDL and the start timecode for each clip was 01:00:00:00. I will give Clipfinder a shot though. Thanks!

Can you do the following:

- Load a clip on the timeline
- Press Command-F
- Send us a snapshot the viewer window

RED's never done that to me. Sounds weird... then again RED still beta.
