need some advice on this project handed to me...
on Jan 12, 2010 at 10:23:04 pm

I've done 4 RED projects in the last year. all short form.

And all of them were just converting the 2k or 4k .r3d hero takes to
prores HQ 1080P, editing then outputting for DVD or blu-ray or digi-beta.

Someone has handed me a project. long form. 4k with separate production audio tracks.

the .r3d files were all converted to 1280x720 pro res quicktimes.

these quicktimes have all been laid into fcp projects and the production audio synced up fine
and the original timecode in the 720p media intact.

day1
day2 etc... (18 sequences total. 1 for each shooting day)

the question is which workflow is best?

should the editor they hire be editing the sequences then nest them in
a master edit sequence and use some sort of xml?

I'm pretty sure (will find out for sure soon) they will want to online in 1080P
ProResHQ (frame rate is 23.98 btw)

any advice much appreciated.

My standard answer: get Clipfinder and make yourself familiar with it…
