Connecting monitor signal to laptop, is it possible?
on Dec 2, 2009 at 12:58:05 pm

Hi all!
I need to match an outdoor shot with a studio shot in terms of angle and object placement.
This means I somehow must ovarlay a still frame from the outdoor shot on top of the RED monitor output. The first thing that comes to my mind is somehow get the signal in to my Mac Pro laptop and somehow compare the two images.
Does anyone have any experince on this? Is possible at all?

Göran

I'd just eyeball it. That or use a video switcher with HDMI inputs. Or grab a frame from the camera and load it into FCP and compare with the studio shot.

[Noah Kadner] "That or use a video switcher with HDMI inputs."

careful- RedOne does not use standard SMPTE rasters for the HDMI- a video switcher may not handle the the frame accurately
