Soderbergh on RED and available light

Take a look at this URL where Steven Soderbergh talks about (and shows) how the RED has helped him move to an available light esthetic in "The Girlfriend Experience."

If this URL doesn't work for you, you can probably find it by searching in the NY Times website.

That's cool, thanks for that.

In other exciting Red news;

Look who's approving the shot:

And look what it's being used for that's not a movie or even video:

Yeah...
too bad that they are now delaying his concerts in London because he does not have the stamina to do a whole show.

The Megan Fox thing is sweet... beer for breakfast!
- but she did not look too happy eating the hotdog.

That movie does look really sweet for available light but then again Soderbergh really knows how to shoot. (And how to pay for a color correction suite.) :)

The Girlfriend Experience was an amazing film on all counts. I found very, very little to dislike in it. It was absolutely the best looking Red footage I've seen, except for the Antichrist trailer - but of course that's Dod Mantle. Really beautiful.

[Chris Durham] "absolutely the best looking Red footage I've seen,"

I have to see this. For as long as I can remember, the hallmark of a big feature DP was his/her use of light -- almost always modified.

Is there something special about the Red process which makes the natural lighting more effective, or is it more the talent of the director?
