Sorry if this question has been asked before but...
I am log and transferring Red One footage into FCP, which generates 2k files from the 4k originals. Then I sync the sound clips (which were recorded separately) to the 2k's, each clip has it's own sequence/timeline - so far so good. But I for sure don't want to start cutting from those timelines - I want to make new master clips (File>Export>QuickTime Movie) from the sunk-up clips in those timelines and start cutting from those. Of course, the new master clips thus created all start at 00:00 timecode, so they won't link back to the original 4k's, which kinda kills the reason for shooting 4k in the first place. Is there a way to sync sound to picture and create new master clips that preserves the original TC and links back to the 4k's and the sound clips, or am I just thinking about it the wrong way and using the wrong workflow? Thanks
BTW, Color can't handle 4K, but for most projects 2K with a half high decode is just fine. The RED doesn't resolve true 4K, just about 3.2 and that's OK. The main reason for a big chip is DoF and sensitivity.
