I just wanted to check a workflow....

Shoot Red 4k 16x9 25fps
Log and Transfer import / Transcode to ProRes 422 HQ 1080 25p
Edit FCP
Import to Color
Grade
Send to FCP
Layback to HDCam SR for HD TX

Any nasties still lurking in here?

Just time... Bring an 8-core and a big bag of potato chips for the ingest wait times.

There are more options than this:

– You could re-conform to the sources to grade with the native files in Color.

– You can do a first-light on critcal scenes with RedAlert and use the saved looks on ingest (don't use the curves!)

- You can do an offline in smaller sizes or other codecs (e. g. DVcProHD) if your shooting ratio is high and you don't want long conversion times. Then use Crimson or Clipfinder to replace the shots used with online quality.

There are many options for the workflow, and they depend on many factors, like variations in native exposure, shooting-ratio and time available.

How slow really? I've got 400 minutes to Transcode and an 8core to do it on!

EX1/3 is real quick!

I'd do some tests so you can see how long it takes. There's also the proxy workflow and conform selected takes as well.

I'm getting a factor of 1:10 with half high, but more than 40 with full-debayer (rarely needed).

Hope this helps,
