I have a .mp4 video file someone gave me. When I click on it, I can watch it on my PC like any other video.
But when I drop it into SV, it only shows up in an AUDIO track. The audio says fine, but I cannot get SV to show the video.
I was going to use SV to clip part of the video, so I can use a different program. But any idea why a .mp4 wouldn't show up in a video track, but an audio only track instead? No matter what I try, I can only get the audio to display.
Most likely Vegas does not decode the video codec that is being used within that particular MP4 file. MP4 is only a container that supports many video codecs. Post a screenshot of your file using MediaInfo to confirm. If you want to use the file, you probably need to transcode it into a digital intermediate that Vegas readily accepts.
