Varies videos in varies FPS - Final Outcome
on Dec 18, 2015 at 11:42:31 pm

Hey everyone, so for the past few days I've been capturing videos with my GoPro in 1080p. The FPS on these videos have been ranging from 25fps > 60fps . The reason why some videos have 60fps is simply because these videos are slow motion so when it comes to editing the video runs smoothly.

So let's say I'm on the editing stage and its time to add special effects etc
What would I set the Project Settings? I have 1080p videos ranging from 25fps > 60fps

As I would want 60fps videos to run smoothly. Majority of my videos are 25fps, 90%

Thanks

[Farhan Ali] "I have 1080p videos ranging from 25fps > 60fps"
You're going to have mess. Why did you use 25 and 60? You should have used 25 and 50, or 30 and 60. 25 and 60 is going to give you problems blending frames to get them to match.

What is you delivery format PAL or NTSC? ( because you have unfortunately mixed both formats). I would set your project to be consistent with your delivery format, then disable resample on any event that doesn't match the project format, and hope for the best.

Hello John really sorry for late reply, just double checked and looks like my videos are 25fps & 50fps.
My delivery format will be PAL but it won't be burned on BluRay Disc just rendered into one video file. I was hoping for 1080p

Thanks

I would set your project for 1080-25p and use that as your render settings as well. The MainConcept AVC encoder has an Internet 1080p template that you can change to fit PAL.

Hey thanks for reply. As I will be not burning my end result onto disc does it really matter if I choose PAL or NTSC just curious as in the past I've always burnt onto dis but on this particular project, no disc just media file.

By selecting 1080-25p does that mean footage captured in 50fps will be lost or something and there was no point in capturing in 50fps in the first place?

What matters is that you render it in the same format that you shot it. Since you shot it in PAL you should render as PAL.

I thought you said that you shot in 50p to use for slow motion. If you deliver in 50p it won't be slow motion which is why I recommended 25p. This way you can create clean slow motion or just drop every other frames for regular motion. Wasn't this why you shot 50p?

Yes, the reason for shooting in 50fps was simply because when it comes to editing stage the video will run smoothly. So you're saying end result or the project should be set @ 1080-25p ?

Both. You said that 90% of your video is 25p so that's what I would set my project to and render to.
