Is there an easier way to do subtitles?

I add subtitles by inserting a blank media into my timeline above my video. I do this as many times as
someone talks, so when one block of text pops up and disappears, I have to right mouse click, insert media, drop the menu bar down to my preset text and font, and then type in the subtitle, and then move it around so that it fits the screen. This process is getting a little bit tedious especially for subtitle heavy videos like this one I made here

is there a better way? Thank you.

Sorry Kyle, There isn't... But you may can explore a little less tedious
method by way of a plugin, thus look at Vegasaur.

A little easier way is to hold the cntl key and drag the previous text to the area on the time line where you want (copying it)and it gives you some options to keep original text or not I believe. If it had several rows of text, just click yes to keep text. then just overwrite the new text where the old is.

1. You can create closed captions as shown in this video (watch it to the end):

2. Convert closed captions to nice looking text events with Vegasaur Text Wizard (if you really need permanent subtitles, otherwise - export closed captions to SRT subtitles and use them on YouTube)

p.s. there are several ways to automatically generate text events in Text Wizard, read help.
