Add a footage, background problem
on Dec 2, 2015 at 4:29:40 pm

Hello guys, yesterday I made a video with sony vegas, I simulated a pistol shooting, I recorder a video where I had in my hand a realistic pistol and I pulled the trigger, then I add on the video a one-frame of muzzle flash picture and was done, the fact is that when I add picture with black background everything is ok because the background don't appear, but when I try to do the same with a footage something go wrong, infact also the background appear, but not black, it become a trasparent white, very disturbing.
Here is an example, I took two pictures of my videos, I downloaded a footage of a spark with black backgound, how you can say in the second pictures when I add the footage the background appear but not black, it become a trasparent white, I don't have any problem when I add pictures with black background, in this case the background don't appear at all, but with the footage I have this problem, you can help me ? Thanks...

What makes you think that a black background should be transparent? What you need is a alpha mask. You can create one with the Mask Generator effect. Drop it on a copy of your clip that's above the original and tune it to make the black really transparent. It will create a black and white mask that you can use to composite your video in Mask mode.

You can add some contrast to that Transparent white and tweak until its ok.

"it could work also if the background will be green ?"

NO, Green is dealt with differently, by simply Chroma Keying.

Yea, once you involved color, you want to use the Chroma Key. For black and white you would use a Luma Key (which is what the Mask Generator is creating).
