Why is Vegas doubling file size when rendering?

The original file was recorded using the following settings:

Then it was rendered in Vegas (without any changes, just for testing) with output settings:
Audio: 48 000 Hz; 16 Bit (MAC); Stereo; PCM
Video: 25 fps; 1280x720 Progressive
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,000

The original AVI file size is 369 MB and the Vegas rendered file is 753 MB. Why the difference and how to make the rendered file smaller without losing original quality?

You didn't say what codec or bit rate you used for the render but only thing that will change the file size is the bit rate. Increasing the bit rate increases the file size for a given codec.

But you haven't mentioned what codec you rendered the final output in!
The codec is the single most important issue where rendering to a smaller
file size without much quality loss is concerned.
