HDVsplit doesn't recognize device

Hello friends,
I haven't had to capture a HDV tape in years and now having issues.
Capturing with a Canon XHA1, I was getting the flashing HDV/DV in flashing issue but after trying another cable it stays on so I assume I'm now connected.
I downloaded the HDVsplit zip and extracted...when I double click the exe it just opens HDV split (does it not need to install?) and it states it can't find the camera.
In device manager under under 1394 controller I see the Texas Instruments controller.
Do you see any red flags here or have suggestions as to what I should try next?
Thanks very much,

Wow, i remember using that in the past, advancement in technology is
moving fast.
Have you already tried using Vegas to capture it?

Thanks very much guys...yes Steve I tried VidCap ()in Veg Pro 12 also with no luck.
After reading the thread Mike suggested it seems that Win 7 is not recognizing the xha1 as it doesn't appear under the "Sound, video and game controllers" section in Device Manager.
The camera seems to be connected as the "HDV/DV in" doesn't flash (xha1's way of showing a connection) so it seems to be a driver issue.
I'm using the Texas Instruments driver which were the ones people suggested many moons ago.
Any ideas as to what I might try next if I know the cable and port on the camera are okay?
Thanks again my friends,

•Go to Device Manager and click on IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers

•Click on the device listed underneath this heading. In my case it was NEC 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller

•Right click this device and select 'update driver software' from the shortcut menu

•Then select the option 'browse my computer for driver software'

•Then select the option 'let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'

•This then gave me three drivers to pick from (make sure the'show compatible hardware' checkbox is ticked

•Select the driver named '1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)'

•Install driver.

This applies to Windows 7. Google legacy drivers for W8 & W10
