Different fps in same project

Hi,

I have to tell my workflow on this project might have some fundamental missunderstanding about video and fps in general, but as I found this way to work in the purpose I wanted (but still have a minor problem), please hear me out :)

I have a project in Sony Vegas 12 with 50 fps GoPro clips. As I didnt convert them into a more editable format they the preview in choppy, but I didnt mind that, in fact, I started to like it that much I wanted to put a few clips in the movie so they would play as choppy as my preview.

I tried few different ways like rendering image sequence jpg-s out of my 50fps clips and leaving only every ~ 30th image (deleting all other frames), which resulted in nasty bad quality clip after rendering.I got blurry squared pixels on some of images after rendering them back into a movie clip, though images all seemed to look nice. I dont know if it is because of 50fps output or something else, anyways I went on with few other methods until I came on a idea to render my desired clip as 3,2 fps clip. So I did that, and it played exactly as I wanted. When I imported it into my project I realised that because of 50fps project this clip is quite messed up now. After quick googeling I found a solution (from creativecow forum btw) to right click on clip, properties and disable resampling. So I rendered a loop region of my project including a bit of normal 50fps clip and a bit of my "genius" 3,2 fps clip and it played exactly as I wanted!
I was quite happy until the moment I saw the final output of my hole rendered clip, where part of my 3,2 fps video was again square-pixel bad quality.

Any ideas, why my workflow worked on a short loop region render, but not in the hole project render?

In this short clip the first 6 seconds is normal 50fps clip and another 6 seconds is 3,2 fps clip and it plays exactly as i wanted.

Everything left the same, just rendering the hole project it results my 3,2 fps clip becoming "square pixelated" (from 1.06min to 1.36min)

Anyone ready to think on my case, many thanks!
James

Forget about everything you've tried. All you need to do is right-click on the Event, select Properties and on the Video Properties tab change the Undersample rate and the video will play back at a slower fps and stutter.

That's nice tip for workflow :) Thanks for that, but the bad quality problem remains. Just like on the 2 sample youtube videos I gave. Rendering a short loop region - its okay. Rendering entire 7 minutes project, this clip stays in a bad quality (see video at 1.06min to 1.36min.)

I assume it's a problem with the GoPro clips then. You might try converting them to CineForm with GoPro Studio.

Still a mysterious case. I converted this clip to avi with gopro studio - same case. Finally I took this short clip that was rendered correctly and placed onto a full length clip and rendered then - still the same block-pixeled result. I forgot to delete this place from full length movie, but as I placed my short clip onto the full length video track on timeline, it should be fine? Will give a last try when I got time for rendering again..
