Video preview freezes
on Jun 18, 2015 at 11:34:43 pm

EVERY TIME I TRY to playback the video is Sony Vegas Pro 13 64-bit, it will get to somwhere between frame 7 to frame 12 then STOP and show a bunch of ellipsis for the remainder of the video EVEN IF it is 3 or so minutes, if I try to top playback, Sony Vegas ALWAYS freezes indefinitely until I force close the program with the task manager and continue off from the last autosaved project.

this happens with EVERY use of Sony Vegas 13.0 64-bit

how do I fix???

Apparently, Vegas does not like your source footage, but for anyone to help with an answer, you need to give some detail. E.g. frame size, frame rate, codec, etc. The easiest was is to take a screenshot from Mediainfo (freeware) that gives such info and post it. Without such basic info, you're not going to get much help.

As Wayne mentioned, you need to provide information of exactly what
you have on that timeline. But from all indication, something is wrong with
whatever file you have playing there on the timeline!

Have you tried importing your Galaxy mp4 files directly into Vegas?

I have a Galaxy S3 and work with animation students who use Toon Boom a lot. I can drop both file types (as well as many more) on my Vegas timeline with no issues whatsoever.
I know that doesn't help solve your problem. Just letting you know that it can be done.

What is the model of your laptop or desktop PC? Do you know what GPU you have? What version of windows? Make sure GPU is disabled in Vegas Preferences. I tried to enable GPU on a really old laptop that did not support the openCL requirements and got a similar sounding result. But I had to go under the hood to make that happen, so its hard to really tell what you are experiencing.

Can you post a screen shot of the timeline and preview?

It looks like, for starters, your computer is too small to handle video processing. It has a dual core processor and a limited memory. Also, you have not given us enough information about your files other than that they are mp4 and avi. What did Mediainfo say?

my old Dell Inspiron 1525 that had WAY weaker stats worked better than this one in Vegas Pro

Again, if it freezes and you see the little dots next to the frame number, it indicates that your file is corrupted. I've had lots of avi files do this in the past. Start with your MP4 file--see if that works in Vegas. If not, then you need to find another way of converting the MP4 to an avi before importing. There are lots of freeware options to do this.

Then something else seems seriously wrong here. Left me wondering then if its the files that's
been corrupted!

Something odd then (virus, adware, trojan, etc) have crept into your computer.
Or you have recently installed something that is causing all this problem
for Vegas.
