Minute:Second Timer in Vegas

Minute:Second Timer in Vegas

I want to add a clock in the bottom right corner of my video but the official Timecode effect doesn't offer the format I want, I just want Minutes and Seconds shown, not the hours or the MicroSeconds (or whatever they are) I want to use it for short videos so I feel I'm going to have to make my own frame by frame.

I don't really want to do that though, so what other options do I have?

I'm well aware of the options available "Seconds" only shows just that, I'm wanting "Minutes:Seconds"

You can mask off the parts you do not want when using the Time preset. Mask off hour and fractional seconds.

This will not work if your minutes count is greater than 59.

Norman is correct. However, as you say Nick :

How "short" is short? If it is up to 59 minutes and 59 seconds you've got a solution, after that the minute Counter resets itself to ZERO. If this is good for you, then this is far FAR better than making a minute counter! - . . . .

Actually, you COULD then use that facility to create a SINGLE text event for each of the subsequent "10" minute sets and just allow the underneath 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 to tick over. Yeah, I could foresee an option to allow to carry beyond 59:59 - at least up and until the "100" minute marker. Do you see that?

Nick, what is your outcome to all this? Is it purely for timecoding allowing a 3rd party to make notes?

Nick, I'm trying to follow this thread and you've been given the solution several times and you're still acting like you don't know how to do this so let be reiterate what others have already said but with more detail:
  1. Drop Sony Timecode onto your timeline event
  2. Set the Timecode format to Time & Frames
  3. Click the Pan/Crop tool on the event to open it
  4. Check the Mask checkbox to enable masking
  5. Create a small mask in the corner around just the minutes and second
  6. In the Mask Properties set Apply to FX to Yes
  7. Adjust the mask until only the minutes and seconds are displayed
That's it! Feel free to ask questions but this is the solution that others have been suggesting to you.

You can use Vegasaur free trial and its Text Wizard to generate this counter...
