Vegas 13 - Audio syncing problems

So here's what happened: I recorded a video and was going to put custom audio to it. Unfortunately the audio ended up being too long for the clip it was supposed to sync up to.

Ordinarily I'd just slow down/freeze frame the clip to extend it, but for the rest of the video, I had already added masking, text that fades in and out, etc. All sorts of effects that, when the video is stretched and moved down, are thrown completely off and I'd have to redo them all over again.

I THINK the solution is to take everything after the slowed down clip, including all effects, and move them down all at the same time. But I have absolutely no clue how to do that.

It's really hard to explain specifically what I'm trying to do, but if a Vegas expert can contact me over Skype and I could share my screen with him, that'd help a lot.

You could nest your project in another project. Then it would behave as a single piece of media and you could slow it down or freeze frame it or do anything you want with it. Just start a new project and drop the VEG file from your existing project onto the timeline. Then match it to the music any way you need to.

I tried your method John, it sounded good on paper but it won't work. If I freeze a section of the video to extend it, that throws the audio off when it gets off that particular segment.

[Ben Albright] " If I freeze a section of the video to extend it, that throws the audio off when it gets off that particular segment."
You said that your audio was independent and that you were having problems stretching the video with the effects messing up. I believe I solved that problem for you if you nest the video only, then add the audio to the new project. Is that what toy did? Your new project should have the video as a nested project and then the "too long" audio file on a separate track. You should be able to stretch the video independent of the audio and sync them any way you'd like.

Oh, I didn't understand what you meant.

As a matter of fact, I fixed it. Turns out it was incredibly easy to just replace the audio after making a new project file.
