Uninstall and Reinstall Lose Third Party Software

Hi Everyone:

Just checking! I may need to reinstall Vegas 12, because it is not functioning optimally. I'm afraid I may lose my third party plugins that I am using in my project. I'm also afraid that if I have to reinstall the plugins, that they may not apply to the projects as previously applied. Would reinstalling without uninstalling help, as in updating? A few months ago, updated Vegas from the Sony website. Couldn't I update it again so that it restores the settings and keep any plugins? My Explorer is still not functioning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Debbie

You don't have to worry about uninstalling and re-installing. Your 3rd party plug-ins will remain in place. You cannot apply the same update over itself so to re-apply an update you must uninstall Vegas Pro first.

Thank you so much John.

What a relief. Has this flickering and dimming ever happen to you with your external monitor in Vegas? If so, did you reinstall or was there a remedy other than reinstalling?

Many thanks,

Debbie

I've never seen the flickering problem but then again, I would never used the Brightness and Contrast filter because it's too elementary. I always use Levels and Color Curves for that.

Thank you John:

I figured out my problem. It was my computer monitor that caused the flickering. I had it set to Dynamic Contrast by mistake and it kept causing all kinds of picture issues in Vegas and rendering as well. I stumbled across Brightness and contrast, because when I rendered using the Blu Ray settings the Blu Ray would have lots of additional contrast. I was looking for something to lessen the contrast and found the plugin. I helped a great deal. I will try using the levels and curves next time.

Thank you so much for your help everybody.

Best,

Debbie

[Debbie King] "when I rendered using the Blu Ray settings the Blu Ray would have lots of additional contrast. I was looking for something to lessen the contrast and found the plugin."
There is a preset in the Levels plug-in called "Computer RGB to Studio RGB" that might have addressed that problem. Keep it in mind for next time. There's always more that one way to solve a problem in Vegas Pro. ;-)

Thank you so much John:

I reinstalled Vegas and all is well so far. I have a confession. I'm not sure if you remember when you and Grazie told me that I should have AC3 Pro since I have Vegas 12, and I told you that I didn't see it when I rendered. Well, when I reinstalled Vegas, guess what option I overlooked? Installing DVD Architect Pro. I never installed it before. That's why I didn't have AC3 Pro. I have it now and all is well.

Thank you so much everyone for troubleshooting me through this movie. I think I am finished so far. I have one issue that I must avoid spending too much time with, and that is the look of one of the cameras that is different from the rest. It's driving me nuts, but I have to live with it, I know.

All the best,

Debbie

That will do it. Glad you figured it out.

regarding this:
My Explorer is still not functioning.

I posted a little tip on your original post. It may help to show what the problem is (then again it may not ...) But worth a look.

Thank you so much Mark.

I will take another look at it. Since I jumped the issue and started selecting my folders by clicking the folder Icon, I went on to another issue at hand that I just solved; the flickering in the picture.

I reinstalled Vegas, and my explorer is still not working, so I will definitely try your suggestion.

All the best,

Debbie
