hello,

and I'm having 2 problems with the new video FX
the first is with the "NewBlue video essentials" whenever i try to apply them
sonyvegas stops working & shuts down and i get a message " display driver has stopped working & had recovered"

the second one is with "hit film" when i try to open them .. it tells me "GPU required" so what's that? & how can i get it?

N.B : lately my pc has been giving me this message " unhandled exception has occurred in your application .. unable to load DLL"

It sounds like you are having major problems with your graphics card driver. I would go to the card manufacturer's web site and download the latest drivers and install them. You can also get the latest drivers from either NVIDIA or AMD depending on which technology your graphics card is based on. This might clear up your problem.

For me, the past 3 to 4 years have been confusing when it came to the "advice" to obtaining an appropriate Graphics Card to work with Vegas using Graphics acceleration. Added to which, now that 3rd Party Plugin developers are relying heavily on GPU acceleration or the usage of even more elegant implementation of the previously almost sleeping, inactive thing called a Graphics Card, getting the best "fit" has been not a little challenging for this editor.

There once was a time that a graphics card would mostly/only provide the monitor with a view of what was happening on your PC. And this for those of us who only use VP for straightforward cuts and scripting-based editing usage had been fine and dandy. But now that the "Pandora Box" of plugs utilizing the GC's own power/function for making use of that power, has had its lid blown off, there has been a seismic shift under the feet of those of us using the more GPU intensive functions or the particular architecture that that card can deliver. It's this last point that has the most relevance to your quest for a solution - as the 2 plugs you are stating do rely on a GPU interaction component needing to be functioning correctly.

Soooooo......

Please supply your Graphics Card specifications:

• Make
• Model
• Onboard RAM
• Present Driver

As John suggests, these are the least we'd need to help you.

Its a pain to deal with i tell you Graham.
I've hated the manner its implemented and the box it tries to put
its users in from day one, along with the endless stress and confusion
it causes users who isn't technically savvy.
Dont know when this dust gonna settle!

Mariam, you can easily look into Device Manager and see which model
and number card you have, then go to their website and search for its
latest driver and install it. Hopefully this will help you.

[Steve Rhoden] "along with the endless stress and confusion it causes users who isn't technically savvy."
This is one of the reason's why people buy Mac's. I know everyone complains that you don't get a lot of choice but sometimes you don't need that many choices... you just want it to work.

It's also why Apple is an very expensive solution. High priced at the front end, and eventually requiring a replacement as the technology and Apple move on leaving the older systems unable to adapt. It does not seem that long ago that the consensus was that Nvidia was the way to go. Now, it seems that AMD is the way to go. Even if the graphics card is OK, you are still at the mercy of software developers who, in the Apple world, lack the incentive to make sure their code works on commonly used systems. I'm guessing that works best for Apple and its hardware and its software. If you always update to the latest, you will be running Apple's hardware and Apple's software to insure that everything keeps working.
