Best file format to convert for editing in iMovie for a Mac

I have someone who wants me to capture footage from an 8mm camera and convert it to a format she can copy to her Mac and edit in iMovie. I can capture directly from an 8mm camera and create an AVI file. I'm using Vegas Pro10 and I'm thinking convert the AVI to QuickTime7 (.mov). I'm wondering if I should use the 3 Mbps Video Template? I'm thinking Default (uncompressed) would make a huge file size, right? I need to burn the .mov to a data DVD for her to load in her Mac to work with.

Or...should I render it to a .mp4 file for her iMovie edit project instead of Quicktime? If so, what template? Default?

I would rendering using Sony AVC with the Memory Stick SD NTSC - 6256 Kbps template assuming you are capturing to DV AVI. That can easily be imported into iMovie and should give you good quality with a reasonable file size.

Thanks John, I'll give that a try.
