What Headphones for Vegas (continued)

I purchased the MDR-7506 from Amazon because of recommendations here. I was quite surprised by what seems to be a lack of quality in the headset. The photos on both the Amazon and Sony site do show the connecting wire to the earpiece "out in the wild" which makes me nervous all by itself. In my Bose headset, there are NO wires showing at all.

Second, when adjusting the slide bar the left headpiece only goes to "8" before the wire is too tight - and the right headpiece goes to "10" with the wire tight. Don't know if they open up any more than that.

I called Sony and they said I may have gotten a counterfeit - because the card that explained the proper use of the headphones said "Made in Thailand" and these are supposedly made in Japan.
I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about my perceived problem... Do I keep them; get a refund; get a replacement; order direct from Sony???? Any Ideas?

Thank you!

I answered your original post. My Sony MDR-7506's extend to 11 on both sides with the wire still having slack. It sounds like you got a counterfeit pair. I would send them back and buy from a reputable dealer like B&H Photo.

Some Amazon sellers are selling fakes. I shop Amazon regularly buy only buy when 'Amazon' is the seller, not some third party.
The Sony 7506 is a superb headphone.

Unfortunately, Amazon WAS the seller...

I read in some Amazon comments that they had other fakes in past - like fake Ray-Ban glasses.
They corrected eventually the issue (silently).

Well, I got the replacement headset from B&H. The instruction pages says, "Made in Thailand" - same as the original set I got from Amazon. The right earpiece pulls out to "11" with a little slack in the wire. The left earpiece pulls out to "11" but is very tight. This is confusing. I'd sure like to hear comments about what I am experiencing. Quality control? Now I'm not so sure "counterfeit" is necessarily correct??? Or B&H gets their product from the same place as Amazon?? Ideas? Thoughts?

The fact that they both pull out to 11 instead of 8 means they are manufactured differently. I would call B&H about the "Made in Thailand" thing and explain that you contacted Sony and they said it should be Japan and that Sony thinks they may be counterfeit. Let B&H look into it for you. They are very reputable, I'm sure they don't want to be selling counterfeit goods.

Maybe the person you spoke to at Sony doesn't realize that some are made in Thailand and f they are, perhaps there is a quality control problem that Sony needs to know about?
