Sony Vegas Frame Counter For PNG Sequence
on Nov 16, 2014 at 8:27:39 am

Hi Guys,

I'm working on a 350 scene flash animation & we are starting to send the final shots. The client wants exact frame count on the videos.

Our mov output from Flash is running a few frames short of the actual length for some weird reason. So we generated a PNG sequence which contains all the frames to generate the video.

However when i import PNG for Shot 1 to Vegas and add Video Fx generator Absolute Frame Counter it begins from 0 and counts the frames to 34 when in fact there are 35 frames.

I know this will come back as a reject if i send like this.

Any ideas how to get vegas to count from 1? if not, do i have any other options?

Appreciate any assistance on this.
Thanks,
Gaurav

Add an extra blank frame at the beginning and discard that PNG file once it's rendered. ;-)

already exporting to image sequence. the problem is when i do so and if a scene has 35 frames, Vegas Frame Counter reads it as 34 because the counter begins at 0 frames, although the sequence begins at 1.

while the blank frame solution works its counter intuitive. the solution i figured out is that starting the frame counter from 1 and this is important to drop the frame counter on the video preview pane and NOT on the timeline or track.

for whatever weird reason it works when done that way.

so thats the solution for now.

I thought everything counted from zero (but, then I am a retired programmer).
Duplicate the first, or the last frame?

Hi Steve, it does but if you get drop the absolute frame counter on the video preview pane and set cursor to count from 1, it follows the instruction for some reason but not if you drop the absolute frame counter (from the media fx library) directly on the timeline.

adding or removing frames from 350 scenes would be tedious, this is a much a more intuitive solution :) thanks anyway though.

I was able to get it to work applied to the track, just not the event on the timeline. That makes since since the event does not necessarily start at the beginning of the timeline.
