Vegas Pro 12, latest build.

Rendering out an uncompressed MOV to a HD that has plenty of TB of space.

System low on memory.

16GB RAM on computer. 5GB used when trying to render said project.

Why?

And now the whole program crashes and exits when I try.

Could you render out following this same method before?
Wondered if you recently updated Windows?

Could be a few reasons: programs starting up at system boot-up, bad RAM chip, maybe something else.

Start by running MSCONFIG (type that in Windows run box), go to 'startup' tab, uncheck everything except your antivirus/security software. Reboot. Then try to render.

That won't help you. Vegas Pro uses a 32-bit version of QuickTime so it can't see more than 2GB of memory. You will never get uncompressed QuickTime to work with Vegas Pro. Trust me on this one... been there... done that... it always blows up!

Why are you rendering uncompressed? Why not use a digital intermediary like Avid DNxHD? If you really need uncompressed in QuickTime, I recommend that you render to an uncompressed AVI file and then use another program like QhucikTime Pro to make an uncompressed QuickTime file.

I'm rendering uncompressed because I am delivering a video I edited, which will be transcoded (by someone else) to various requested TV formats etc.

I might give them an uncompressed AVI and see if that's acceptable.

It's also worth noting that I'm exporting a 2K project. (2048 x 854 pixels).

You should see if they will accept Avid DNxHD. This is visually lossless and will produce much smaller files than uncompressed. Also see if they will accept Sony MXF HD422 50Mbps. These are very high quality.

I seem to having issues rendering out any MOV (dnxhd, animation, motion jpeg etc)

Hmmm... it may be the fact that your project is 2K. Can you render it in smaller sections or does it stop immediately?

Can you render to Sony MXF? Let's make sure that it's QuickTime and not something else stopping the render.
