The project video properties are as following:

According to Gspot....my codecs are in order. I can play the video in vlc player normally.

I compared it to other video files that i work with but i coudnt find any differences.

Do you guys know whats the problem and how can i fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Wow that is strange! What does it look like when you play it in a media player like Windows Media Player, or VLC, or whatever you have? Does it only looks like this in Vegas Pro? PAL DV footage should work fine in Vegas Pro.

I only tried playing it in vlc and it works fine.

Thats the strange thing...according to its properties its nothing unusual. I'm not 100% sure but i think it was shoot with a sony PMW-EX3 XDCAM EX HD

That's really strange that it would work in VLC but not on the Vegas Pro timeline. The only thing I can think of is use a tool like AviDemux 2.5 to remux the video and audio into a new file and see if Vegas can read that one correctly.

Not a stupid question at all. Muxing is the process of combining a video stream with an audio stream in a particular container. Sometimes they are interleaved in a certain way for different containers (i.e., QuickTime does it one way, while AVI does it another way). Remuxing is the process of taking the existing video and audio and recreating the container (i.e., the file). Sometimes the metadata in the file is corrupt, or incorrect, or incomplete and all you need to do is recreate it with the proper information. Sometimes you want to take the video from an Windows AVI file and place it in a QuickTime MOV file but you don't want to re-encode the video you just want to copy it into the new file. This is what Remuxing does.

I recommended remuxing just in case the metadata in the file is corrupt and Vegas Pro isn't reading it correctly, the remixing will create a new file with the correct information. It's a shot in the dark but it's worth a try.
