Creating a PNG in Vegas leaves a dark edge when compositing in Photoshop

Creating a PNG image in Sony Vegas Pro leaves a dark edge when
compositing in Photoshop. Any way to prevent this?

Sony Vegas generated PNG (dark edge)

It would appear you've got a NON-transparent "feather" edge. I'd be going back to PS to determine a better way to graduate the edge through to transparency. I don't see this as a Vegas issue.

Why would a feather-edge be non-transparent? - the whole point of it is to create transparency! This is a BIG issue - It needs a proper solution or It's goodbye Vegas!

How did you create, and save the feather result? Where in VP did you create the Feathering?

Right click on the Event and open the Properties. Navigate to the ALPHA settings. You need to select Premultiplied OR Premultiplied (Dirty).

My guess you still have "Straight (unmatted)"?

Any good?

Did you actually test this and get it working?
if so - what was the process you followed (step by step)
I tried everything I could think of and the results are the same
what did you do that I didn't???!!!

From the images it looks like you didn't export a PNG???
If you did export successfully what was your process?
Like I said - the problem is with PNG's! - I have no dark rings inside Vegas.

Here's a big clue that I did: The captures have an ALPHA component. I did this from WITHIN Vegas. You can tell this from the Transparent background.

I'm truly interested to hear why you say I DIDN'T?

I saw the console & assumed you hadn't (this issue is clearly effecting my brain function!).

Focusing back on the issue... i changed the Alpha Channel like you suggested but this makes no difference... so whats the process to achieve this?

My process:

1] Seagull Event on Timeline.

2] Use PanCrop Mask to create that selected Oval.

3] Applied Feather to Mask.

4] Saved PNG of seagull.

5] Place PNG back onto Timeline over the Background.

6] Right Click on 5] above.

7] Apply the Premultiplied switch and the DARK RING goes away.

That's it!

I tried this and it works!.. what I was doing was applying premultiplied before exporting it as PNG.

Thanks allot for your help in fixing part of the problem..

Now I need to figure out how to save the PNG premultiplied so i can use it in other software besides Vegas.

If anyone knows how please let me know!
