Type in fade value? (video)
on Sep 1, 2014 at 10:10:30 pm

Hello!
I tend to do many fade ins and fade outs on my projects. Is there any way to type in the fade value rather then dragging it?
Looked through the manual couldn't find if this was an option.
Thank You
Brad

Brad, this is done very easily with a script.
Here's a link to one that was written by Edward Troxel several years ago.
Click on the event(s) to select it/them and run the script. Instant fade in & out :)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20488019/FadeEventInOut.js

It says audio track in the script but it works equally well for video.
It can be customized as desired. It defaults to a one sec. fade in and one sec. fade out. I changed some values so that I have a 1/2 sec. fade in & out as well as other variations.

To do this, change the lines that read as shown here to the desired vales and save it under a new name.
evnt.FadeIn.Length = new Timecode("00:00:01:00");
evnt.FadeOut.Length = new Timecode("00:00:01:00");

For example, a 1/2 sec. fade in & out would be changed to read
evnt.FadeIn.Length = new Timecode("00:00:0:15");
evnt.FadeOut.Length = new Timecode("00:00:0:15");

Have fun with it!!

Actions like this is where tools like Vegasaur, Ultimate S and Timeline Tools excel.

Norman, those are all great tools but this script is free and that's hard to beat :)
