DVD Architect 5.0- Incompatible Media Speed

Hi,

(btw not sure if this is in the right part of the forum as its DVDA, hope it is)

For the last 3 weeks I have been burning projects to Dual Layer DVD+R 8X discs, I have received a new batch of the exact same discs and DVD Architect refuses to begin the burn process. The only speeds it says it can burn at are 2X or 6X, I've tried both & it always gives me an error message saying "The media's speed is incompatible with the device. This may be caused by using higher or lower speed media than the range of speeds supported by the device'' At first I thought this was a bad lot of DVD's however I have tested them on some Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB and again it gives me the same error message, however when I tried to burn a smaller project to a TDK 4.7GB DVD-RW with a 4X burn speed it began burning correctly without a problem? I don't see why this error is occurring now. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing architect, re rendering the media out from Movie studio 12 & nothing seems to make a difference. I have had no issues burning at other speeds in the past, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll post some pics as to what DVDA is saying from my end:

Thanks

"I have received a new batch of the exact same discs and DVD Architect refuses to begin the burn process. "

And that's the ONLY thing that's changed? I'd be testing with a NEW alternative source.

Thanks for the reply Graham,

sorry bit of a noob by source, do you mean the source I am using to burn or the dvds themselves?

Thanks

Source meaning another supplier for the SAME media and also try another/alternative supplier of the MEDIA. IF it was Verbatim try Tayo Yuden.

To me, your troubles started/appeared with the NEW source of Media/Platters.

I started having problems with dual layer DVD's a couple of years ago. I tried several different brands from different places finally settling on Falcons from Disc Makers. I also found that, by using bit rate calculator, I could fit about 2 hours 15 minutes on a single layer disc and still fall into the good DVD area. For what I do this works very well. Just a thought.
