Dynamic Ram Prevew in VP 13

There appears to be a problem with ram preview in VP13. When I select the space to build the preview the cursor starts but snaps right back to the start with just an instant of video preview. I got it to work a couple of times, but didn't do anything other than what I always do. Any suggestions? Thanks

How much RAM have you set aside in Vegas Pro?

I have it set at 1048 just as it is in Vegas 12. It appears as if it is taking a portion of the selection and building the preview. For example if I want to preview a 10 second piece it is only previewing 3 or four seconds of it.

That's odd, not seeing it behaving any way different on my end.
Still 1048 is very low for long previews.

It certainly seemed to be enough in VP12. I'll jack it up and see if it acts the same. Thanks.

[Mike Hinkel] " For example if I want to preview a 10 second piece it is only previewing 3 or four seconds of it"

What is your project size, frame rate and bit depth and preview size. Quarter, Half, Full?
For a given amount of memory, Half can store 4 times the preview length of full. Quarter can store 16 times as much/long as full.

For me with preview RAM set to 1024, I can do 16-17 seconds with my preview at Auto/Half in a 1920x1080, 29.97 fps, 8-bit project.

Does your Project match your Media? Are you using any FXs?

Do you have GPU Acceleration enabled? If so, disable it and try again and see if that fixes it.

Turning the GPU off did the trick. Memory fails me, but I now remember having this very same problem when GPU acceleration was first introduced. I was putting a trial of BCC9 with FX and transitions through its paces to see how it responds in 13. It works very well BTW. All I need do now is try to wrap my head around when or not to use GPU.

Thanks for the help guys!

When you find a bug, turn it off. lol ;-)

Glad that fixed it for you. I had the same problem. It was fixed by updating my GPU driver. Check to see if there are any GPU driver updates for your card. If you are on the latest driver, try going back one.

Lol, Yep, when things get ugly turn out the light. Nvidia had a couple of driver upgrades. I used one and didn't like the results I was getting from it. I thought of downloading the latest one. It says it will improve game performance and all that just as the previous one did..
